A beautiful traditional sgian dubh by Windlass Steelcrafts, including scabbard. According to Scottish tradition, sgian dubhs are worn under the shirt, close to the armpit. Nowadays it is customary to wear the sgian dubh in the stocking, and it is also called stocking dirk. The name sgian dubh literally means: knife with black grip. This sgian dubh has a black wooden grip with a smooth surface on one side, decorative engravings in the wood on the other. The nickel-plated parts show a decoration of a thistle, which is Scotland's national flower. The semi-sharp blade is made of tempered 1085 carbon steel with a hardness of 48-52 HRC. Perfect for lovers of Scottish history, as an accessory for a kilt and for Scottish reenactment.
