Product description

This Cardiophylax (heart protector) is based on (Celtic) Iberian originals that were worn around the 3rd century BC by the Iberian tribes such as the Caetrati and the Scutari. They were worn in the many tribal wars and in the wars against the Roman and Carthaginian empires. The Cardiophylax protected the heart while providing optimal freedom of movement. The warfare tactics around this time were mainly based on guerrilla warfare. The Cardiophylax was worn throughout southern Europe. This heart protector is decorated with a wolf symbol. This refers to a typical Indo-European tradition of warrior bands who fought in the cult of a deity or an animal such as the wolf, bear, or boar.
