Product description
This knight’s helmet is based on an illustration from the Westminster Psalter (British Library, Royal MS 2 A XXII) dating from 1200–1250 AD. The illustration shows a knight kneeling in prayer before departing on a crusade, while his squire hands him his helmet.
This type of early great helm appeared in the first half of the 13th century. It was developed from the nasal helm (calotte) and offered better protection for the entire head. These helmets were usually worn in combination with a chainmail coif. Helmets like this were worn by the European aristocracy and knightly class and are depicted in various manuscripts and seals. They remained in use until the end of the 13th century.
This replica helmet is perfect for medieval costumes, Templar knights, and medieval reenactments. The helmet is richly decorated with brass fittings and features an adjustable cotton liner with leather laces, allowing you to fit the helmet to the size of your head.
