This Roman gladius is a replica sword based on historical swords from the Roman era. Gladii like these were used around the 1st century BC, and this Roman sword is of the Mainz type. Several originals of this type of gladius have been found. This gladius was used up to Hadrian's Wall. The Roman gladius was the best weapon for close combat in the Roman army; it was light and efficient. The gladius is the weapon with which the Roman Empire was founded.

This gladius has a wooden grip wrapped in leather. The scabbard is also made of wood, wrapped in leather and adorned with brass fittings.
