Product description

The Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon, better known as the Templars, was a clerical knight order that was founded in 1096, at the end of the First Crusade, to guarantee all pilgrims a safe journey to Jerusalem. The Knight Templars were the best trained soldiers of the crusades and the non-fighting members of the order founded an enormous banking system all over Europe and built massive forts.

This decorative templar sword has a carbon steel blade with a fuller. The grip is made of wood and covered with braided leather. The sword has a massive cross-guard and an octagonal pommel of brass. Both the cross-guard and the pommel are decorated with red enameled crosses. The sword is delivered including a matching scabbard.

Hughes de Payens was one of the founders of the Knight Templars and its first grand master. Together with Bernard of Clairvaux he composed the rules of the order and led it for twenty years, until his death in 1136.
