Product description
This type of great helm, or calotte, emerged in the second half of the 12th century as a development of the nasal helm. In this early type, the shapes of a nasal helm with a rounded skull cap are still clearly visible. Helmets like this were worn by the European aristocracy during the time of the Second Crusade and remained in use until the first half of the 13th century. These great helms were typically worn in combination with a chainmail coif and a hauberk.
This helm is battle-ready and made of 2 mm thick steel. It is equipped with a leather lining for added comfort.
