Product description
In close collaboration with the martial arts instructor Volker Kunkel and his West Coast Institute, Ulfberth has developed this sword that is suitable for sword fighting. The goal was to offer a sturdy yet light, well-balanced combat sword for those on a tighter budget. Volker brought his years of experience as an instructor and trainer in fencing here. The Ulfberth team, together with its swordsmiths, has translated these specifications into a Viking sword for battles with a very good price-quality ratio. This sword is modeled on original finds from the 9th/10th century in Britain, classified as Type L according to the Petersen typology for Viking swords. It has a blade made of forged spring steel that is hardened in oil and then tempered. It has a Rockwell hardness of 48-52 HRC, and the very wide groove gives it both flexibility and lightness. The cutting edges are approximately 2-2.5mm thick and the sword comes with a rounded, relatively wide tip to meet the requirements for tournament use. The sword has a typical three-lobed Viking pommel, pinned, with continuous tang construction. This sword is the short version.
