This Viking sword is a replica of a 10th century Viking sword. In 1919 Jan Petersen published his groundbreaking Viking sword classifications, also known as the Petersen classifications. In total there were 26 types with 20 special types. Within the Petersen classification, this sword is a type S. The type S is thought to originate from the tenth century from the older type D Viking sword. The type S is mainly found in the nordic countries and in Eastern Europe, but rarely in Western Europe.
This sword is made of carbon steel with an antique finish of the pommel and cross-guard and has a grip wrapped with brown leather. It is delivered including a wooden scabbard wrapped with brown leather and with antique steel fittings. The scabbard has metal rings to hang it on a belt. It is suitable for training and sword fighting, it has a rounded tip and a battle-ready blunt blade (2.5 - 3 mm thick).
