Using Modeling Wax for Realistic Wounds and Scars
Modeling wax is a great medium for creating fake scars, wounds, and cuts. It works best on parts of the skin that do not move too much, as thin layers can dry out and crack if they move too much. This is not as much of a problem with thicker layers. We will show you how to use modeling wax correctly.
What do you need?
-isopropyl alcohol
-make-up cotton pad
-Spirit Gum
-modeling wax
-petroleum jelly
-modeling spatula
-modeling tools
optional:
-make-up
-fake blood
How to use modeling wax:
Step 1:
Prepare your skin by wiping it with some alcohol. This is to remove the oils from your skin. Then you can apply a layer of Spirit Gum to the area where you will apply the modeling wax.
Step 2:
Use the spatula to scoop a portion of the modeling wax out of the package. Form it into a ball or roll it in your hands and press it onto your skin where the Spirit Gum is applied.
Step 3:
Start smoothing the base shape and the edges of the modeling wax with your fingers. Modeling wax is very sticky and tends to stick to your fingers. Applying petroleum jelly to your finger can prevent this.
Drag the edges of the shape outward to blend it into your skin.
Step 4:
Use the modeling tools to further shape the scar or wound. You can use the tools to blur the edges more or to press a cut or wound into the wax.
Step 5 (optional):
If the colour of the modeling wax does not sufficiently match your skin tone, you can apply makeup over it. You can also use makeup to add redness and other color effects to the scar or wound, making it look more realistic. If you are creating a wound or cut, you can also add some fake blood into the cut or wound.
