Leg wrappings were worn by the Romans and Hadrian's wall, Byzantines, Franks, Alemanni, Bavarians, Wenden (Slavs), Normans, Vikings and other peoples of Central and Northern Europe. The most commonly used materials were felt, wool linen or leather.
