Product description

A wonderful accessory for Roman re-enactment and for making your own (leather) armour. A phalera for the Romans was similar to a medal or trophy. These round discs were given in the Roman army as a reward to soldiers who had distinguished themselves in battle. The discs were made of silver, bronze or gold. During military parades, Romans wore the phalerae on their leather armor. Veterans with an armor full of Phalerae were highly regarded and respected. This phalera is decorated with an eagle or aquila, the most important field sign for a Roman legion.
