Every story and every game has NPC’s (non-player characters). In live-action role-playing (LARP), fantasy games and Role playing games such as DnD, popular non-player characters or NPC's appear. They guide players, give quests, or complete the game. Here is an overview of the most common non-player characters. In LARP, these characters are usually played by people from the organization. NPC’s are also very suitable to use as inspiration for your costume.
Tavern Keepers
These NPC's often run inns, taverns, or other gathering places where players can interact, gather information, or purchase supplies.
Quest Givers
These NPC's offer players missions, tasks, or quests they can undertake during the LARP. They can be anything from wise sages to mysterious figures with important information.
Merchants
NPC's who sell various goods, equipment, and items to players. They may have specialized wares depending on the LARP setting, such as blacksmiths, apothecaries, or sellers of magical items.
Townsfolk/Villagers
these NPC's populate the game world and represent the common people of a village or town. They can provide atmosphere, role-playing opportunities, or small quests.
Faction Leaders
NPC's representing leaders of various factions, guilds, or organizationss within the LARP world. They can offer players guidance, alliances, or missions related to their specific faction.
Monsters and Creatures
NPC's portraying various creatures, beasts, or monsters that players may encounter during their adventures. These NPC's can range from simple foot soldiers to powerful bosses.
Guards and Enforcers
NPC's acting as protectors of important locations, such as city guards, palace guards, or faction enforcers. They can enforce rules, initiate combat encounters, or serve as quest obstacles.
Mysterious Figures
NPC's with hidden motives or secrets, often playing a central role in the storyline of LARP. They can be mentors, seers, or even adversaries, adding intrigue and mystery to the game.
