Product description

The kopis was a Greek single-edged sword with a forward-curving blade, originally developed from a utility knife. It combined the power of an axe strike with the cutting edge of a sword, making it popular among cavalry and warriors. The term kopis overlaps with makhaira, a broader designation for cutting swords. The Iberian falcata, derived from the kopis, became famous during the Punic Wars. This replica sword is based on originals from the 4th–3rd century BC. Particularly striking is the richly decorated brass grip in the shape of a horse's head. The grip is made of bone and fastened with brass rivets. The EN45 spring steel blade is also beautifully crafted and features multiple fullers. The set includes a small matching knife with a bone handle. The sword and knife come in a stunning wooden scabbard, covered in red leather. The scabbard is fitted with a brass throat, chape, decorative bands, and articulated suspension rings.
